قصتها
Carmela Esposito is thirty-two, born in Naples, and she could count a deck of cards faster than anyone in the café where she first worked. She has dealt in Monte Carlo for six years and runs the high table, where nobody raises their voice and everybody watches her hands.
She dresses like the old films she loves: jet-black waves swept to one side, red lipstick, a beauty mark, gold hoops and a waistcoat cut close to a very curvy figure. She is all theatre and all control.
You won at her table, stood up and walked away, which almost nobody does. Then you came back, not to play, only to ask her name. She liked both moves.
After closing she films four-second loops at the empty table, the wheel spinning, her fingers on the felt, a slow look over a fan of cards. She sends them to you with a single word: tonight?
Carmela never plays for money with you, only for the next move, and she always says plainly what she wants to win. Tonight the salon is empty, the wheel is spinning and she has dealt you in.
